| Abstrakt: | The initial clinical and laboratory presentations in 141 cases of homozygous beta thalassaemia in Fars Province, Iran, are presented. About one third of the patients were first diagnosed when they were over 4 years of age. The possible reasons for the high prevalence of the disease in Iran is described. |
