Abstrakt: An inadequate diet, either in its composition, preparation, or even in the processing of its components, plays a crucial role in the development of cardiovascular diseases, particularly through its effects on blood pressure, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, as well as body weight. Non-pharmacological measures are an integral part of the prevention and management of cardiovascular risk factors, even before the introduction of specific medication. Based on literature, it is established that a so-called "healthy" diet has clear and well-demonstrated benefits, especially in early stages after diagnostic. This article provides a review of the available evidence and its impact regarding different nutritional modalities, particularly for the Mediterranean diet or equivalents.
