Abstrakt: We report a pediatric case developing hypoglycemic encephalopathy during the acute phase of coxsackievirus (CV)-A4 infection. A part of the sequence of the virus detected from our patient was completely identical to that in other CV-A4 strain reported as a recombinant strain with lethal CV-A2, suggesting that the properties of CV-A4 might be associated with the severe hypoglycemic encephalopathy.
