Abstrakt: | The standard of care for open globe injuries is prompt surgical closure, as delay in repair is a reported risk factor for post-traumatic endophthalmitis and is associated with worse visual outcomes. This article serves as a review of the current management and outcomes of open globe injuries repaired greater than 24 hours from the time of injury, specifically evaluating the rates of endophthalmitis in cases with and without intraocular foreign bodies, visual outcomes and rates of primary enucleation or evisceration. |
