Abstrakt: The successful breeding and reproduction of the African turquoise killifish Nothobranchius furzeri in a controlled laboratory setting are required to establish this fish species as a model system for studying vertebrate development and aging. Here, we describe a protocol to care for and hatch African turquoise killifish embryos, raise the juvenile fish to adulthood, and breed this species using sand as the breeding bedding. We also provide suggestions for generating a large quantity of good-quality embryos.
