Abstrakt: In this issue of Neuron, Kim et al. 1 demonstrate that theta oscillations between the right ACC and BLA are critical for observational fear and identify a role for the hippocampus in modulating these oscillations. They further show that theta oscillations are specifically involved in vicarious rather than directly experienced fear.
