Abstrakt: Drug intoxication is a common reason for pediatric emergency department (ED) visits and one of the leading causes of death among teenagers. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential for a proper management of these patients. We present a 13-year-old girl attended at the ED showing excessive sleepiness and gastrointestinal symptoms after taking an unknown drug. Due to suspected iron overdose and the impossibility of measuring urgent iron levels, an abdominal X-ray was performed, which confirmed the diagnosis. We highlight the utility of radiology in the diagnosis of iron poisoning, which is possible due to its radiopacity.
