Abstrakt: | In the context of psychiatric emergencies, it is important to distinguish between so-called controllable agitation and uncontrollable agitation. In this context, physical restraint of the adult patient is sometimes necessary, but remain an exceptional measure. Restraints must be applied rapidly and in a protocolised manner. It should be used sparingly in the elderly patient. Physical restraint is a medical prescription that must be accompanied by chemical restraint. (Copyright © 2021.
