Abstrakt: This article defines stress injury, including insufficiency and fatigue fractures. The pathophysiology and risk factors for development of stress injuries are also discussed. The most common locations, including specific imaging examples, are reviewed with an emphasis on early detection and differentiation of high-risk and low-risk locations. Optimal imaging modalities with associated imaging findings are covered, as well as some potential pitfalls to avoid. The importance of correlating imaging findings with symptoms and the prognostic value of imaging grading are also discussed.
