Abstrakt: The cerebral isocortex is usually considered to be a 6-layered structure. Our anatomical findings suggest that layer VII be recognized as a distinct entity in rodent isocortex. This conclusion is based on cytoarchitectural, fiberarchitectural, connectional and developmental data.
