Abstrakt: Risk calculators are an underused tool for surgeons and trainees when determining and communicating surgical risk. We summarize some of the more common risk calculators and discuss their evolution and limitations. We also describe artificial intelligence models, which have the potential to help clinicians better understand and use risk assessment.
