Translation into Brazilian Portuguese and Cross-Cultural Adaptation of the NCCPC-PV for Pain Evaluation of Patients with Intellectual Disability to Communicate.

Abstrakt: | Objective To perform the translation and cross-cultural adaptation to Brazilian Portuguese of the Non-Communicating Children's Pain Checklist - Postoperative Version (NCCPC-PV) instrument, which assesses acute pain in individuals with severe intellectual disability (ID) who present great cognitive impairment and inability to communicate (CIIC). Method In the adaptation process, the original NCCPC-PV was translated, back-translated, its versions were discussed by a committee of experts, and the resulting tool was tested in 20 health professionals and 20 caregivers of CCIC patients regarding its semantic clarity. Results Data from the present study and its participants were analyzed and their results were described. Thus, "Lista de Verificação de Dor em Crianças Não Comunicantes - Versão Pós-operatória" (Br-NCCPC-PV) was obtained as the final version in Brazilian Portuguese. Conclusion After the present study, the Br-NCCPC-PV was considered adequate for use in the Brazilian population.
