Abstrakt: Bilateral corneal opacities can be a leading symptom of different systemic diseases. Especially in childhood, various metabolic diseases, although very rare, should be considered as a possible diagnosis. Since corneal opacities can be among the first clinical symptoms of these diseases, the ophthalmologist plays a central role in initiating early interdisciplinary diagnostics. The early diagnosis is extremely important for further prognosis and the clinical outcome of the affected patients due to the early initiation of therapy.
