Giant cell tumor is considered to be a lesion which behaves locally in an aggressive fashion and has a high local recurrence rate. Several physical adjuvant methods have been employed to reduce the local recurrence rate including cryosurgery with liquid nitrogen, phenol instillation, and the use of methylmethacrylate. In laboratory conditions, the authors applied a CO2 laser beam to eliminate traces of residual tumor tissue. As a mode of physical adjuvant treatment, use of the laser seems to be a promising technique for local tumor control. |
