In experiments on 24 albino male rats weighing 150-200 g it was found that the complement system and autoimmune humoral reactions are involved in the development of adjuvant arthritis. The use of sulfasalazine since the 10th day after intragastric administration of Freund complete adjuvant in a daily dose of 250 mg/kg for 2 weeks increased the activity of the complement system and decreased the autoimmune component. The data obtained clarify one of the possible mechanisms of allergic reactions to sulfasalazine which is related to the complement system activation. |
