[Impact of diabetes in children and adolescents].

Abstrakt: DM 1 can occur at any age, but its higher incidence seen in under 15 years of age with greater frequency in age preschool and especially prepuberal. It represents about 10 of the total number of forms of DM and is one of chronic disturbances more frequent in children and adolescents. The destruction of the pancreatic cells involves a total deficit of insulin in these patients by requiring treatment with insulin from the time of diagnosis.
