Abstrakt: From 1995 to 2006 we performed embolisation in 9 patients with bilateral kidney cancer. Embolization of kidney with smallest cancer was done at the first stage with subsequent embolisation of tumor in the contralateral kidney. Technically all procedures were successful and were performed without complications. Operative intervention on the contralateral kidney was undertaken 1-4 months after embolization in 8 patients. Five patients are alive for 5 and more years. Four patients died in 34-49 months after intervention. Selective embolization is a safe and effective modality which expands our abilities to treat patients with bilateral kidney cancer. Embolization can be used as single treatment modality and in combination with subsequent surgery.
