Abstrakt: The authors compare the frequency of notified foodborne illness in Italy, at the regional and provincial levels, in the years when food handlers in all regions were required to undergo periodic (once a year) medical and laboratory examinations, with the frequency of foodborne illness after this requirement was abolished and substituted with more effective, evidence-based, preventive measures.
