Abstrakt: There can be serious damage to motor, sensatory, and perceptive capabilities when the brain suffers vascular alterations. With this in mind, the objective of this study is to report and share Nursing care to the individual who has suffered a cerebral vascular accident, emphasizing Orem-based rehabilitation and self-care. This study is a report of a practical care experiment, carried out in May and July of 2006 involving 15 individuals and their families in a rehabilitation center in southern Brazil. Integral Nursing care occurs with stimulation to sensatory, motor, postural control, movement amplitude, and marching practice activities when accompanied by health care education actions. These abilities grant nurses performance capacities, in turn proportioning reductions in damage and incapacities.
