Abstrakt: In some studies, snoring has been associated with an increased risk of hypertension, ischemic heart disease and stroke. Although the mechanisms involved in these associations are unknown, they are probably mediated by obstructive sleep apnea. Nevertheless, most snorers do not have sleep apnea. Whether snoring itself increases the risk of cardiovascular disease remains controversial.
