| Abstrakt: | Magnesium has been shown to play an important role in the body. In the critical care setting of particular concern is the role of Mg++ in the treatment of malignant tachydysrhythmias such as ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. Research is being conducted to determine appropriate methods of assessing Mg++ status, the relationship of altered Mg++ states to clinical manifestations, and the treatment of the abnormalities associated with Mg++ deficiency. Safe and effective forms of parenteral and oral Mg++ supplements are currently available. |
