Abstrakt: We report two microbiologically confirmed cases of trypanosomiasis in short-term Australian travelers to Malawi. The initial diagnosis was followed by medi-evacuation to South Africa where suramin therapy was commenced. The treatment course was completed on return to Australia, with subsequent follow-up. This diagnosis should be considered in travelers returning from an endemic region.
