Abstrakt: A colour-yielding reagent has been developed for sulphon-amides, acid amides, and other compounds containing N-active hydrogen. It consists of an aqueous pyridine solution of cyanide and either barbituric acid or 1-phenyl-3-methyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one and is applied after initial chlorination of the sample. Amounts down to 0.1 mug or less can be detected on TLC plates. The possibilities of quantitative determination have been investigated briefly.
