Results of transpleural resection of esophageal and cardioesophageal tumors in 115 patients are discussed. Extensive combined access, formation of invagination anastomosis, preoperative preparation and intensive therapy for correction of homeostasis proved the basic elements of the therapeutic modality. The use of these elements assured lower postoperative lethality (13.9%), particularly, due to surgical complications (9.3%). In patients undergoing extensive combined resection, lethality rate was 10.0%. Intrapleural anastomosis failed in 5.7%. |
