Abstrakt: The data of a five-year observation of 126 outpatients with peptic ulcer were analyzed. A hundred patients had been observed by a gastroenterologist, and 26 had been observed by a general practitioner. The study found that the economic effect of the observation of this category of patients by a gastroenterologist vs. a general practitioner was 16 days of temporary inability to work in cases of gastric ulcer, and 73 days in cases of duodenal ulcer.
