The study deals with the results of clinico-morphologic analysis of thyroid cancer in 351 patients who have been operated on in the Carpathian Mountain [correction of Prikarpatsky] region endemic for goiter over the period of 25 years. Certain peculiarities of thyroid cancer were established: relatively high occurrence of the disease, specific ratio of basic histologic subtypes, high frequency of early stage cases and regular concomitance of cancer with other thyroid pathologies. The importance of further studies into the epidemiology of thyroid cancer is emphasized. |
