Abstrakt: The characterisation and evaluation of the UK licensed human anthrax vaccine depends on several in vivo tests that determine its safety and potency. Assays for the determination of functionally active and/or immunoreactive toxin components and S-layer proteins have been developed and applied to the characterisation of anthrax vaccine. These technologies may support production of consistent and effective vaccines, and may ultimately reduce the requirements for in vivo testing.
