Control of hyperglycemia and retardation of cataract by mulberry (Morus indica L.) leaves in streptozotocin diabetic rats.

Abstrakt: Dried leaf powder of mulberry (M. indica L.) when given along with the diet at 25% level to streptozotocin induced diabetic male Wistar albino rats for 8 weeks, controlled hyperglycemia, glycosuria, albuminuria and retarded onset of retinopathy. Untreated diabetic rats showed hyperglycemia, glycosuria, albuminuria and developed lenticular opacity after 8 weeks of experimental period.
