Abstrakt: Rotaviral infections are frequent cause of the severe diarrhea in children. The only way to eliminate rotaviral infections is safe and effective vaccine. Among various rotaviral vaccines elaborated in many countries, the human-rhesus reassortant vaccine (RRV-TV) was chosen for routine immunization of infants. However, post-licensure surveillance of a rotavirus vaccine showed an increased risk of a serious adverse event following vaccination--intussusception. That forced the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to withdraw the license of RRV-TV. In spite of this defeat, works for receiving safe and effective rotaviral vaccine still last.
