Abstrakt: Acute renal failure is often fatal, but usually this complication following trauma is avoidable. Of fifteen patients with acute tubular necrosis associated with severe trauma, thirteen survived. This is a marked improvement in survival rate compared with the rates previously published. We credit the improvement to aggressive medical and surgical treatment by a team of orthopaedic surgeons, nephrologists, and surgeons.
