Abstrakt: G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) represent a superfamily of proteins, characterized by seven transmembrane alpha-helices, that signal through interactions with a family of heterotrimeric GTP-binding proteins, referred to as G proteins. The broad range of physiological functions associated with GPCRs indicates that a better understanding of these receptors and their regulation can provide a solid foundation for novel pharmacological interventions in a variety of disease states.
