Abstrakt: A 21-year-old white male presented with persistent adenoiditis. A computed tomography (CT) scan with contrast was performed and was interpreted as normal. An adenoidectomy was performed, and histologic examination demonstrated the unexpected presence of a mature island of hyaline cartilage surrounded by lymphoid hyperplasia. The nature of this anomaly is considered in respect to the embryological development of the base of the skull and nasopharynx.
