Abstrakt: The collaboration of a doctor and nurse in a solo family practice provides a model for implementation of various modalities of patient education. This requires an integrated approach in which patient education becomes part of the routine visit. The impediments and advantages of solo family practice with respect to delivering patient education are discussed. The importance of continuity of care is emphasized. Fifteen "practical tips" for successful patient education in this setting are offered so that they may be reproduced elsewhere.
