Abstrakt: | Summary: An exploration of autobiographical identity in a group of late medieval 'prison texts'. Despite the seminal nature of Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy during the Middle Ages, the legacy of the figure of the writer in prison has not been examined before. The book discusses the interrelation of subjectivity, historicity, autobiography, and imprisonment, and should appeal to scholars in the burgeoning field of fifteenth century studies. |
