Abstract: Laboratory fume hoods belong to common equipment in many school and scientific research laboratories. The public usually only associated them with chemical workplaces, but in reality, their use is far from being limited only to this. Indeed, they are common equipment of many workplaces, for example physics, biological, pharmaceutical or medical. Depending on the specific health risks, their technical solutions range from the simplest to the more sophisticated. The gradual replacement and upgrading of laboratory hoods at workplaces in the Czech and Slovak Republics over the past thirty years is the result of a general trend in the emphasis of occupational safety at these workplaces. |
