Abstrakt: | Abstract: The discovery of laser technology has provided tremendous opportunities for basic and applied research. Dr. Arthur Ashkin, while working with his own original laser apparatus, gradually discovered that strongly focused laser radiation could capture and manipulate micrometer and even sub-micrometer-sized objects. Optical laser capture was further used to manipulate biological objects, such as viruses, bacteria and yeast. The scientific work of Dr. Ashkin has had a far-reaching impact on Czech and Slovak laser research. |
