Abstrakt: Abstract: Economic cooperation among developing countries of Africa is an objective necessity. The development of modern productive forces and the rational utilization of their natural resources require international co-operation and specialization. The importance of such subregional co-operation was recognized long ago by the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). Industrially developed capitalist countries respectively their leading transnational corporations try to use the economic co-operation among African countries for their aims. This is true especially of the French monopoly bourgeoisie which tries to undermine, for instance, the subregional grouping OCAM. In order to raise the efficiency of this economic co-operation in Africa, it is necessary to co-ordinate the measures. Some of the member-countries of existing economic groupings in Sub-Saharan Africa are planning and implementing joint institutions in the economic sectors which are of interest for the partners (especially in the sphere of the infrastructure). Further, it is necessary to co-ordinate the economic policy measures as well as the attitude towards foreign capital and the public sector. Experience hitherto shows that the life-span of these institutions which are under neo-colonial influence is limited and the inherent differences can only be bridged partly. The development of modern productive forces and the rational utilization of the natural resources require objectively economic co-operation in Sub-Saharan Africa as in other developing countries, ft can be successful for the participating countries only if it is realized with mutual advantage and on a strict democratic basis. The authors investigate the advantages and the progress achieved hitherto in this field as well as the contradictions and obstacles for this economic co-operation.
