Abstrakt:	Abstract: Ideas and reflections of a syntactic nature in Greek philosophy have not been sufficiently highlighted or assessed from a linguistic perspective due to the philosophical context in which they occur. This article explores the primary advances and contributions of ancient Greek philosophy - from Plato to Chrysippean logic - in the field of syntax and reveals the fundamental influence of those achievements on subsequent syntactic and grammatical development. It illustrates the decisive importance - often insufficiently recognised - of Greek philosophical thought for the origins and structuring of basic doctrines, notions and categories of Western syntax.
