Abstract: Life-histories of the three most abundant theridiid spiders of an apple orchard (Theridion varians Hahn 1833, T. impressum L. Koch 1881, and T. bimaculatum (Linnaeus 1167)) are presented. The juvenile and subadult instars are described in detail. The instars were identified according to the length of tibia and metatarsus of leg I, and number of hairs in medial and submedial rows of both tibia and metatarsus. Five juvenile and two subadult instars were recognized in each of the species studied. The colour pattern of each stage is given. The results obtained are a sound basis for further population analysis, such as construction of life-tables. |
