| Abstrakt: | Abstract: The scene of the Crucifixion was a successful, often repeated and copied composition when Hans von Aachen worked in Munich. This is illustrated by the painting published recently by Thea Vignau-Wilberg, originally dated to 1602. After restoration and removal of a false signature, it could be included in the authentic works to the time of the painter’s stay in the Wittelsbach court around 1590. Hans von Aachen returned to the same theme in the last years of his life, in an as-yet unknown drawing in an entirely different dynamic composition already close to the Early Baroque expression and made around 1613. Both of the named works are deposited today in a Czech private collection. |
