Abstract: J.-J. Salomon, one of the mnost important pioneers of science, technology and society studies, edited a new book dedicated to the functions of science and research in connections to the desired and expected functions of science for the next future. Such a view is not possible without adequate generalizations of science impacts in the closing century. For the new century we have to expect the growing role of uncertainty, of the knowledge production and information processes, of the changing role of human activities and of value structures. |
