Abstract: This article examines the changing nature of patenting activities by taking a special case of environemntal patenting as an example. The challenge of ecologically sustainable development stresses the need to develop voluntary environmental standards. of particular concern are the consequences of environmental patenting for individual market economies. Another major focus will be the question about the present and future role of the individual nation states in this process. The article also comprises a comparative study, taking the case of the USA as a key point of reference, and is supplied with a detailed data comparison. |
