Abstract: 1a_The article is contemplation about the possible enlargement of the urban conservation zone in the town of Bechyně. The analysis of monuments was based on the methodology which was used for evaluation of areas in preparation of the urban conservation zone plan. The area of the zone is divided into parts determining and supplementing its character. During the field research in the year 2001 the possibility of enlargement of the present border was checked in order to make it possible for certain parts of the area which are only partly included in the urban conservation zone to be included in it completely. After the basic structure of the developed area was determined and the design image of the town was finished, the selected areas were evaluated. The criterion for determination of the value of monuments was the extent of originality (integrity) of the natural features and the buildings in the territory. The described space characteristics of the territory are based on the knowledge gained during the research of the terrain in the territory of the town. The present state of the territory is compared with maps of the stable cadastre of the town. Description of the historical centre with a castle and suburbs was divided into the territorial sections which are marked on the map of the territory of the urban conservation zone elaborated in the year 1990. On the left bank of the river Lužnice, east of the castle, there is a pottery village called Zářečí. North of the town walls in front of them there is the Baroque church of St. Michal and north-west of the river Lužnice there is a spa complex and an adjacent residential district named after František Křižík. The territory north and north-east of the town walls comprises also terraced residential houses and detached residential houses. The character of the whole one is determined by the sections with the castle and chateaux and the historic centre. |
