Abstract: Although the concepts of „automation“ and „cybernation“ seem to be out of date and irrelevant for contemporary discourse on new media in general and iteractivity in particular, Erkki Huhtamo claims in his essay exactly the opposite. He notes that one of the common features of many technocultural discourses is their lack of historical consciousness: for the technorationalist logic which dominates thinking about media today the old is always obsolete and useless, be it a piece of hardware or a theoretical concept. |
