Abstract: The essay is concerned with Grand Master of the Knights of the Cross Jiří Ignác Pospíchal (1635-1699), a native of Polná. He arrived in Prague in 1652, studied philosophy and theology with the Jesuits and then joined the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star in 1657. For his erudition, he was chosen by the Grand Master Harrach the General Provost and de facto led the order instead of another Grand Master Waldstein. In 1699, Archbishop Breuner chose him as a candidate for the suffragan; however, he died during the process in August. |
