Abstract: From August 27 to September 1, 2006 The 17th International Mass Spectrometry Conference took place in Prague. The IMSC is the largest international conference on mass spectrometry and it attracted nearly two thousand participants. The mass spectrometric method is enjoying the largest surge in its 100-year history. The past decades have seen exciting new developments: from methods that led to the discovery of stable isotopes of elements, to numerous applications for the analysis of gaseous mixtures and solid materials, to the elucidation ot the structures of organic molecules, and to the development of ion chemistry in the gaseous phase. |
