Abstrakt: | Abstract: This article enters into the discussion over the literary history concept of “national humanism”. It recalls the genesis of this category in the 19th century, stressing in particular the role of Josef Truhlář, a prominent literary historian and expert in humanist literature. It assesses the position of Viktorín Kornel of Všehrdy in contemporary literary history textbooks and considers the importance Kornel's translation work (drawing attention at the same time to the broader context of translations of religious literature in Czech reformation humanism). It concludes with a reference to other current problems in research into humanist literary culture. |
