Abstrakt: | Abstract: The study focuses on the reconstruction of the population development in the region of Těšín, that constituted eastern part of Austrian (Czech) Silesia. Among specific demographic traits of the region of Těšín could be mentioned its settling by Polish, German and Czech ethnic groups that avowed various religious denominations (Roman Catholic, Protestant, Jewish). From the point of view of methodology, the study combines macro, mezzo and microanalyses of populations, through which we can take a look inside of reproduction relations of these populations. The macro-level (Silesia and other countries of Cisleithania) was researched on the basis of the data from Austrian statistics, and similar was the basis of the mezzo level of analysis that focused on political districts and statutory towns. On the other hand, the micro-approach was based on the Roman Catholic and Protestant parish registers and through this, the typologically different communities and their inhabitants were studied. As for the time delineation, the focus is on the beginning of the second phase of demographic transition. The research proved the synchronic existence of various forms of reproduction behaviour at the same period, the different situation of statutory towns, uniqueness of demographic relations in mining towns, expecially in consideration with family life and fertility, that was influenced by the migration from Galicia. |
