Abstrakt: I was pleased to read the July 16 front-page story "206 D.C. teachers are out of a job," especially after the previous day's Metro article implied that D.C. Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson was watering down her predecessor's IMPACT teacher evaluation program. Letting folks go is difficult, but when expectations are clear and the system defining ineffective performance is fair, this is the only way to improve our schools. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
