The article reports that U.S.Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said that the growing use of complex financial instruments known as derivatives does not pose a threat to the country's financial system.According to Greenspan financial market participants who purchased derivatives, including banks, had been able to spread their risks. Greenspan used his speech as a rebuttal to warnings about the use of derivatives issued by Warren Buffett in March 2003 in his annual letter to shareholders in his company. |
